I am a Kou fan but I've never written a thorough description of my favourite artist.
Now She-wee has two types of favourites
1. Hot guys who are also talented, creative, with a good sense of humour (eg. WaT)
2. Unique girls with mature minds and personality (eg. Kou Shibasaki)
Here's the basic:Name: Kou Shibasaki (Real name was never confirmed)Birthdate: August 5th, 1981Birthplace: Tokyo, JapanHeight: 160 cm (haw haw I'm taller)
I first saw her on the poster of Orange Days in 2004. Melody was forcing me to watch the drama but I was more into Korean pop at that time, so I merely made fun of the title: "AHHAHA, Orange Days?! Why isn't it called Watermelon Days?!?!" Soon after that, I forgot all about the drama or how the "girl" on that poster looked like.
One day in the spring of 2006 I was flipping through a magazine from 2005 (I had to find some images for my french project), and I saw a mean looking girl pointing a gun at someone. On the title it says "Kou Shibasaki debuted as a villian". I don't know why I even bothered to read the whole article since I was trying to do my French homework, in anyway, I did. In there it talked about Kou in the movie "Battle Royale". Her role surprised the editor since she usually appears in romance films and dramas.
Once I was chatting with Allen Kuo, and out of randomness, I asked him "by the way, do you know about this movie called Battle Royale?" He knew, and he had the movie. I managed to borrow the movie from Allen Kuo Now I don't usually watch films with such strange subject and gore. So I was very shocked by the movie. And shocked by the girl with the sickle. Despite the fact that I resented the movie at first, I couldn't help to do more research on it and on the actress in there - Kou Shibasaki.
So I found a Taiwanese fansite of Kou - http://shibasakikou.com/ - and did some navigation. When I learnt about the complexity involved in there (eg. I had to earn points in order to go into some areas) I decided that it's impossible for me to join the fansite. I decided that I should give up researching at that point. However, SOMEHOW I ACCIDENTLY clicked into the PV, Kage and Katachi Aru Mono...I COULDN'T HELP IT BUT TO FALL IN LOVE WITH HER VOICE~~~~ ><.
So I went back to join her fansite (out of unwillingness because I wasn't familiar with any fansites and their policies of earning points, etc). At first I thought, this obsession won't take long, it's just some entertainment news that I'm interested, I'll forget all about her soon. Though after I read some of her news articles, information, and interviews. From her behaviors described in there and the things she said, I noticed that she's not like the usual celebrities, she's successful, though modest, confident, though cute, devoted, unique, and COOL indeed. She's popular in Japan, but unlike many others, she maintains such purity and innocence, yet you can tell her thoughts are mature. Before I realized, I had become a true Kou-fan (But I did not abandon BoA and w-inds!).
Afterwards, I watched most of her recent works, I could be no more surprised to see how well she's able to change both her looks and the character she plays. And her ability to sing is another plus! I really began to take her as my idol. Becuase of her, I even went to read Battle Royale the novel as well as Crying out love in the centre of the world. As I know more about her she becomes more attractive .
There are so much to say about this person, but I guess I'll save it for later.
